Cosplay Props and Behaviour Policy

 Costuming/Clothing

The Go Atomic! Event is a family friendly event so there is an expectation of an appropriate level of dress including by those in costume.

Costumes or clothing MUST NOT:  (a) be overly revealing (b) be overtly sexual (c) include inappropriate printed language or other elements that would otherwise contravene the Code of Conduct.

If costumes or clothing contravene these Rules, the relevant cosplayer must change clothes or modify the costume, so it is deemed acceptable by Go Atomic! Staff.

Additionally, costumes:

  • Cannot promote alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapon (including promoting the use of any of these), any activities that may appear unsafe or promote any political agenda or message;
  • Cannot be obscene or offensive, endorse any form of hate or hate group;
  • Cannot defame, misrepresent or contain disparaging remarks about Go Atomic! or its products or other people, products or companies;
  • Cannot communicate messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or goodwill to which Go Atomic! wishes to associate; and
  • Cannot depict and cannot itself violate any law.

Go Atomic! reserves the right to ask any attendee to remove any costuming face covering, mask or headwear if necessary, for the purposes of identification.  Failure to comply with this will result in removal from the Go Atomic! Event.

Props

Props must comply with the following Rules:

  1. No Sharp Things – Any prop (whether swords, arrow tips, claws or other) must be soft or blunt.
  1. No Real or Replica Firearms – You should familiarize yourself with the NSW Police website relating to imitation firearms including guidance as to what imitation weapons are acceptable in public spaces.

https://www.police.nsw.gov.au/online_services/firearms/faqs

https://www.police.nsw.gov.au/online_services/firearms/firearms_and_ammunition

All laws must be obeyed. At the Go Atomic! Event, your imitation firearm must have a fluorescent tip at the end to indicate it is not functional.

  1. Functional Projectiles – You must refrain from shooting foam missiles (including from Nerf and other similar children’s toys), arrows and water balloons in and around the Event space. Empty water guns are permissible, bows are also admissible provided the string is slack but airsoft weapons are not allowed at the Go Atomic! Event at all. This Policy applies to ALL props including bow and arrows, medieval props and whips.
  1. Explosives/Chemicals/Tasers/Laser Pointers – Not permitted.
  1. Annoying Loud Things (including airhorns but excluding children) – Not permitted.
  1. Glass Props – Not permitted.
  1. Helium Balloons – Not permitted.
  1. Huge or Heavy Props – Common sense prevails. If you cannot fit through the entrance door or walk around the venue floor without bumping into people or anything else or damaging your surroundings, then your prop is too large or too heavy or both. Go Atomic! Staff have the final say regarding the size of a prop and whether it will be permitted at the Go Atomic! Event.

If you are unsure about your prop either send us an email before the Event or check with Go Atomic! Event Staff prior to entry on the day.

If your prop is deemed not acceptable, we can store it for the duration of the Event but if it is acceptable, we will tag it so you can bring it into the Event and not be bothered going forward.

If you are caught with inappropriate props in any Go Atomic! venue, Go Atomic! Staff will determine the severity of the breach and it may result in any one or more of the following: (a) the relevant prop may be confiscated (b) the relevant prop may be checked into the Prop Inspection Booth and/or (c) you may be removed from the Event without refund.

If you deal with or handle any prop weapon in a dangerous or hazardous way which is unsafe to other patrons, Go Atomic! Staff will deem the prop unsafe for the Event and it will be dealt with as detailed in the preceding paragraph.

The Go Atomic! Event is a safe, respectful, inclusive and fun family friendly environment and care, respect and the safety of all attendees of all ages is our primary concern.

At Show Purchases

Exhibitors who sell props and weapons outside the scope of the policies of Go Atomic! are instructed to sell these props in secure boxes at the Event.

If a restricted prop weapon is taken out of its box within Go Atomic! Event, the purchaser will be removed from the Event without refund.
